Welcome to HipCoyote.com. I hope you enjoy this compilation of some of my favorite photographs. Most of these photographs are a documentation of our (my wife and my) travels around the world. Where ever we go, I attempt to find scenes to photograph that many people may not recognize as an artistic moment. Some of these photos do not qualify as "art." I present them to show some of the sites we experienced during our travels.
I am sometimes asked what was the most interesting place I've visited. I think an African safari would be at the top of my list. The people were welcoming, the animals were amazing and the experience was exceptional. Before the turmoil in the Middle East, I would have recommended Israel and Egypt. Both are amazing places. The antiquities are extraordinary. The religious sites in Israel are quite moving and the food was exceptional. Egypt was simply amazing. Seeing sites that were relatively well preserved that are several millennia old was a great experience. For the most part, I found Egyptians to be welcoming. When things settle down, these two countries would be at the top of my list.
Where would I not recommend? I did not care for Greece. The antiquities were not well preserved, except for the Parthenon and a few other sites. The food was not noteworthy. If you want to see Greek antiquities, visit the British Museum in London. We did tour Greece in the winter so we did not experience the famous Greek beeches and islands.
I would not recommend Morocco. Taking photographs there was very challenging. Many people did not like having their photographs taken. Seeing crowded squares with defanged cobras and monkeys on chains was not an experience I want to repeat.
Why the coyote reference? Coyotes are perhaps the most adaptable animal on the planet. They can live anywhere; from Central Park in New York City, to the mountains of Montana, to the deserts of Arizona. Well, we tend to travel quite a bit and I'd like to think that I can thrive in any photographic environment. During my photographic journey I discovered I do not enjoy the process of going out specifically to take photographs. Rather, I like interacting with people, exploring, experiencing things and making photographs when I am moved to do so.
